Lihue Airport Kauai, as the main entry point to
the "Garden Island". It is located approximately a mile and a half east
of Lihue city. Lihue Airport is partly open air airport. The airport is usually
well considered to be easy to navigate and welcoming to travelers. Lihue Airport
offers everything you need, whether you are flying internationally,
domestically or on an inter-island basis.
It is worth
to know before you go
At present time, only six airlines are
operating at Lihue Airport; Delta Airlines, American Airlines, WestJet, Alaska
Airlines, United Airlines, and of course, Hawaiian Airlines.
You will arrive at the ground level of the
airport when you land at Lihue, and signage will direct you to the baggage
claim, exits and information areas.
If you get into airport by car you have only
one choice. It is Ahukini Road from Kapule Highway.
It is important to keep in mind that, because
of the law, prohibiting the transmission of non-indigenous plants, pests,
livestock and pathogens, all luggage traveling to and from Hawaii is subject to
agricultural inspection. So, be ready for thorough baggage inspection. It is
much more difficult to fly with pets to and from Hawaii than other states.
Parking
Drivers can access the Mokulele Loop parking
lot at Lihue Airport. Fees:
1) free for 15 minutes,
2) $1
for the first half hour;
3 ) $2 for each hour after that;
4) $15
for 24 hours.
It is also available monthly parking for $160
per month.

Drink
There five places where to eat at the airport.
1) near gate 4 - HMS Food Kiosk (quick snack,
coffee to go);
2) near gate 6
- Stinger Ray’s offering local favorites as well as tropical libations.
3) outside gate 7 – Starbucks;
4) in the center of terminal - Ai Ono Cafe
offers sandwiches, burgers, and various hot dishes.
5) Mea Inu Bar and Grill – place for quick
refresh before take-off. The food is average.
